Our Services
There are 14 community libraries in West Lothian and we also have two mobile libraries, which will visit outlying areas. If you want to find out about West Lothian's past, search your family tree or access a variety of online databases, then visit our new Heritage and Information Centre in County Buildings, Linlithgow.
Library membership is open to anyone who lives, works or has an interest in West Lothian. All you need to join is two forms of identification, one of which must include your name and address. There is no minimum age to join and it's FREE to borrow books and to use the computer. Click here to view or download the leaflet that explains the wide range of services on offer at your local library.
Newspapers and Magazines
Most libraries have a selection of newspapers and magazines for you to browse, with comfortable seating areas and some libraries have coffee machines. View or download a listing of what's available at the bottom of the page.
Music CD collections
Music CDs are available to hire for a small charge. There are collections in Carmondean, East Calder and Linlithgow libraries, but they may be requested online or in any branch. Click here (new window) to search the catalogue and see what's available.
Meeting Your Needs
We provide assistance in a range of ways for individuals with different mobility, learning, sight and language needs. View or download the "Meeting your needs" leaflet, available at the bottom of the page.
Breastfeeding Friendly Libraries
West Lothian Libraries have been awarded the Breastfeeding Friendly Award and welcome mothers who want to breastfeed in any public area of the library, and all members of staff will support the needs of breastfeeding mothers.
